The beads used for Whitby jet are similar to that of fossil coal. It that respect they are easy to carve, but also easily chip or break.

The circle stones on this necklace are set around a metal base to add strength and allow for a more elaborate look to the finished piece. The necklace measures 15 or 38cm The weight is 62.2 grams Whilst every effort is made to accurately describe the item, there may be the odd defect that has been missed.
